Week #28 A Trip to Assedrome... 400 km north of Tombouctou!
If you are looking for that perfect isolated barren desert retreat then you need look no further than Assedrome. Extremely hot and completely void of any plant life, you do not want to find yourself lost in a camel caravan here. Although at the surface this little plot of the Sahara seem to have little to offer, there are great hopes that vast oil deposits lie below the surface!
The small paved runway and a temporary camp for the oil exploration crew are the only landmarks in the otherwise near infinite sea of sand.
A couple weeks ago Gus woke up and declared that he wanted to take his training wheels off of his bike. Out came the wrenches, off came the training wheels, and one big push and Gus was good to go! He is now a pro, conquering the large water bars and rough streets of Badalabougou with ease!
